About Me
Have been fishing since about 6 years old. Quit using bait by 10 and went to spinning and lures. Still toss some hardware occasionally, but I am strictly a fly fisherman now, and proud of it!

They have been private for many years, but gained some attention when the state record white bass was hauled out of there in '09 (which broke the record from same lakes). And rumors say the new record is in there, and there are many large fish of other species as well.
Anyway there is a fundraising tournament being held there on June 23, 2012 with cash prizes and a chance to fish this private water.

Usually most rivers are cranking right now, my Arkansas River is usually above 1000 cfs in May/June. Right now it is only 400 cfs, so wading is nice, and the fish are fat and happy. This seems to be the trend throughout the West.
Caddis and mayflies are still coming off Arkansas, but stoneflies are making a big appearance. And a large Brown crushing a PMX dry is as about as exciting as you get. So they have a full menu right now.
So if you are a fly fisherman, get t the river!!!!! less

I used to fish for bass and walleye, etc. But I jest can't put down the flyrod long enough to do that anymore. I love the mountains, rivers and streams, etc. That's where I want to spend my time....So I flyfish.

Reports from all over Colorado have 2012 as one of the best for fishing ever. I am hoping snowpack levels come up this year to sustain fishing and farming in 2013! Midges and baetis are working on most waters now. Sizes 18-24 in black, grey, olive, and brown are best producers.
