Largemouth I generally use lipless cranks and rip them out of the weeds and let them fall back down and do it over again.
Smallmouth, I ALWAYS bump it off rock piles and get bit off of them doing so. Just bump it off the rock pile and let it sit for 3 seconds (depending on what you like) and start your retrieve again, they'll generally hit it when you start it up again. Also another key factor is to match the forage in the lake. Hope this helps and good luck! less
