This very simple but effective lumo bodied trout fly is tied using the breast feathers of a native bird of New Zealand, the PUKEKO... Lucky for us they are abundant, however because they are native to NZ, I prefer to use road kill...You can find PUKEKO in swampy areas, for me around the Broadlands / Reporoa area.... I have used Weka breast feathers from the Chatham Is, and other similar shape feathers with as much success, however, I have noticed the trout find it hard to resist the NATURAL DARK BLUE in this beautiful feather.
